The whole stadium erupted in cheers as the Lady Lakers scored yet another basket. Hamtramck’s energy seemed to be fading. It was apparent from the first quarter that the Lady Lakers would blow Hamtramck High’s Lady Cosmos out of the water with a victory.

The first quarter went scoreless for Hamtramck with the Lakers up 19 points. The second quarter had the score at 32-5. By the end of the third quarter the score finally shot up to a whopping 50-5,  with the Lady Lakers still in the lead. The Lady Lakers cinched the win with a final score of 54-6.

The Lady Lakers treat their team like a family, and it definitely shows by their chemistry on the court. Even after this huge win, they’re already looking towards the future.“We could improve on talking more, having our hands up on defense and moving around more. North Farmington High School and Southfield High School will be our hardest games and we’ll have to get ready for those,”  said Jamia Elam, center.

Of course, every game will be important in this high-level league. The next game that the Varsity Girls Basketball team will play is on December 2 against Troy High School, and will be at 7 p.m. Come out to support the Lady Lakers!
