Around the World in 4 Years

Seniors leave International Club

The International Club is one of the most popular clubs in West Bloomfield High School (WBHS). Headed up by spanish teacher Greg Vennettilli, the club aims to educate students about other cultures as well as their own via ethnic foods, presentations and videos. Their most popular event is called the Taste of Culture; one day each school year, students can pay $1 to eat all different types of ethnic foods. The proceeds from the event go to charity, according to senior International Club president Arhum Mahmood.

Instead of community events, this club focuses on helping students learn about other cultures, which is what makes it so popular.

“I wish the best of luck to my seniors and look forward to hearing about their future!” said club head Vennettilli.

“I’m really going to miss all the people I get to see every meeting,” said Mahmood, a four year veteran in the club who was named president last year, “and the food, of course.”  Seniors pictured include Arhum Mahmood, Aleena Mirza, Antara Ajampur and Fabiola Belaen.

Congratulations, Lakers!  No doubt your next 4 years are going to feel like yet another trip around the world!
