Work hard PLAY harder
A reflection from the senior members of the West Bloomfield High Marching Band.
May 24, 2016
The West Bloomfield High School Marching Band has had a fantastic season. Sadly with the end of the season comes the end for our seniors.
The seniors have spent up to 5 years marching, spinning, playing, and performing. The Marching band students have set a standard of excellence for all of their younger peers to follow. Over the years they have become a family that works hard and plays even harder. The seniors in the WB marching band are as follows:
Ian McDonald
Maddie Hoffman
Heather Hailey
Ruby Kim
Sanay Mohile
Hershal Satam
Lily Pukaramba
Mr Mielens says that the seniors “ Are a very talented senior class, they have gone through a lot of change. Some of them have had three different band directors since they were in sixth or seventh grade, they chose to stick with it because they love it. They really care about the success of the program, I work with students who are talented and work hard, that’s why I loved working with this class”
According to senior Joe Boyle the best memories were “ Performing at Lucas Oil Stadium” (Joe Boyle). The best part of being a senior is “ Mentoring the younger band members and setting an example of excellence” According to Drum major Herschal Satam. But they hope that the underclassmen listen to their advice. “ Do what you must to succeed in life, but do forget to enjoy your life” According to Hershal Satam.
Mr. Mielens advises all of the seniors to “Be kind and work hard, do that and you will succeed”
So long seniors we wish you the best in all you do!
